Hello Ladies!
I just had to share this… highly personal experience with you. Before preparing for my wedding, I had never thought of going to get professionally fitted for a bra. I thought I was still the measurements I was when I first went bra shopping as a teenager with my older sister/cousin. I thought when I began to see marking on my shoulders; it just meant I needed to replace my bra, not that it was poorly fitted. Or even with weight gains or losses my bra size had not changed so much. I was so wrong!
Last month, I went wedding dress shopping. At the bridal shop, I tried on the foundational pieces they offered in the measurements I told them, I was. However, nothing fit. I even began to feel a bit self conscious. Praise God though I was able to get my wedding dress that day. However, the experience sealed the deal for me that it was time to go get professionally fitted.
I began to do some research and found “Linda the Bra Lady”. I remember hearing about her when I used to view “TLC’s What Not to Wear” religiously. Linda actually has two locations. They offer free bra fitting and their inventory support ladies from AA-N cups.
Well this past Friday night I finally went to one of her locations to get a bra fitting. I went to the location in Murray Hill 552 3rd Avenue, New York, NY 10016 (between 36th and 37th Streets) It’s their newest location (646) 736-1949 The other location is in the Upper East Side, 828 Lexington Avenue New York, NY 10021 (between 63rd and 64th Streets on the west side of the street) 212-751-2727
I walked from my place of work on 32nd and Broadway to the shop. However, the closet trains are the 6 to 33rd or 4, 5 or 6 to Grand Central/42nd Street.
The shop is designed well, similar to a contemporary dress boutique. The receptionist was welcoming and gracious, appointments can be made in advance, (over the phone and online) and they receive walk-ins. Key thing to say, group appointments are welcome! I originally was going to go with my Maid of Honor and my Lady in Waiting, but ended up going alone.
When you see Linda’s for the first time for yourself, you will get the idea right off the back that you are about to have an experience. When you enter the fitting area, you are escorted to one of the six private dressing areas. My Certified Fitter’s name was Linette Torres. It turned out she was actually the Store Manager. Linette allowed me the privacy I needed. She left me alone, so that I could make myself comfortable. Upon her return, she asked me why I decided to make an appointment. She genuinely tailored the experience for me. Ultimately when I left Linda’s I felt more empowered, liberated and confident about my look.
I am now sporting the right bra size, fit and can buy more intelligently.
For More Information you may also see Linda on the web at: http://www.lindasonline.com
They also offer a customer loyalty program, where you earn points for your purchases and referrals can get up to 15% off their purchases.
