Who am I, she asked? I answered my name was Hannah.
Thursday, June 18, 2015 I looked gingerly down at my cell phone at a text from my husband; he was informing me of the status of his arrival. “I am downstairs,” he said. I replied back, letting him know I was on my way. Ms. Dot and I took one more pass around the room to make sure nothing was left behind. “Do you have your phone charger?” she asked. “Yes, ma’am,” I replied. The room with its tiled floors and contemporary furnishings was reminiscent of a hotel suite, outside of the big white elephant in the middle of the room a hospital bed. My phone vibrated again informing me I had…

Almost two years till I am the BIG 40
Saturday, November 26, 2016 There are times when I sit alone and think; where has the time gone? What have I done with my life? Have I accomplished anything? Who and what am I living my life for? Then I looked at my calendar and realized its around that time of the month, and I am just a bit melodramatic. However, a week from tomorrow I turn 38. I am two years from 40, and I am truly not happy. I am not living my best life. I know this to be true, I am just cruising through life at times on autopilot. I have moments when I look in the…

Just a few of the things I am thankful for
It’s Christmas Holidays Season! You are probably as excited as I am for the opportunity to spend time with family and friends and chow down on some good food and fixings. As I sit here in front of my computer, I can honestly say there are a number things that I can give thanks for. A lot has happened in my life since the last time I posted an article. After almost a year and a half after relocating, I was given the opportunity to work full-time outside of the home this summer not once, twice but three times! Don’t get me wrong, I was grateful for the transition time. …

On this upcoming Monday, the Hubby Coach and I will be celebrating our 2nd Wedding Anniversary! I am super excited because I think I am more in love with him now than ever before. We were married on June 9th, 2012 in the Great Lakes Garden in Niagara Falls State Park (Niagara Falls, NY.) I thought to commemorate the date; I would share a few funny things that happened on our special day. Here are 5 funny things that happened during and after our wedding ceremony…. Our brother-in-love who married us made me say my vows twice. I don’t know why, but he did! I actually forgot to put Oji’s ring on his…

His Day is Done – A Tribute Poem for Nelson Mandela by Dr. Maya Angelou
On Thursday, December 5, 2013 as a global family we began to mourn the loss of Nelson Mandela. A man whose whole life exemplified, grace, honor, strength of courage, diligence and a strong commitment to the basic belief that all men were created to be free. Mr. Mandela served 27 years as a political prisoner for his strong beliefs in his native country of South Africa. In his life time, he saw Apartheid, abolished and himself (a black man) upon his release be elected as his country’s first democratically elected president. From that illustrious position, he stirred the reins of power, showing the world that real power is found in…

It’s Me Oh Lord, Standing in Need of Prayer
“Don’t focus on your weaknesses; focus on your God.” – Pastor Joel Osteen Yesterday, I received a report about my health that essentially shook my world. The news even came with pictures! I am still trying to wrap my head around it. In a sense, I honestly can’t because if I do I will open a door for fear to enter in rather than let my faith to grow from within. I think I can actually list what I am experiencing in the natural as the physical manifestation of things I know that have been going on in the spirit. There are dreams and things that I was supposed to…

Taking the Next Step to Becoming Healthier
Today I did something significant for myself. I got up this morning with taking care of me in mind; mind, spirit, body and soul. After eating breakfast, and spending some devotional time with the Lord, I went on my one hour Fitness Walk around our community. Generally I listen to “Praise and Worship” music or a personal development audio book. Today I decided to listen to “Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg. It was recommended to me by one of my mentors. The book focuses on teaching women how to help one another and empowers them by giving advice on how they can pursue their dreams and ambitions. Sheryl Sandberg was…

By Myself… I Could Not Even Get Out of The Parking Lot! (Part 1 of 2)
“In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” – Proverbs 3:6 Amplified “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.” – Proverbs 16:18 Amplified July 2nd 2013 Last week I took my road test for the first time in Texas and failed. I had become crippled by the spirit of fear. When I went to take the test I was not sure about my performance of one particular driving maneuver. That lack of confidence paralyzed me so that I was not able to get out of the DPS (Department of Public Safety / Department of Motor Vehicle)…

Last week Monday was April 1st
Last week Monday was April 1st or in the US what we commonly call April Fool’s Day. A day filled with trickery, half truths and cloaked in deceit. This year as most I decided not to participate. However, I was surprised by some of the believable posts on Social Media Networks done by my friends and family members. One of them actually moved me to act and made me want to start or in a sense change the direction of a series of articles I had started last fall called “Enough is ENOUGH – My Testimony of God’s Grace”. See, one of my teenage nieces posted that she had tattooed…
