I’m A World Changer!
I feel so privileged and honored! God has allowed me to see this day…As a genesis member of my local church World Changers Church – New York (one that attended the first service and has lovingly served in the helps ministry ever since)… To say after 8 years we have moved into our permanent church location…and will be having our first service there tonight is simply amazing! I know my life has been forever been changed for the better because two people were faithful to the call of God on their lives and came to New York to plant a church…an extension of the World Changers family in my hometown!…

I Said YES to the Dress
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31: 25 This President’s Day my Maid of Honor Nicole and I headed out early to shop for my wedding dress. As we took the short walk (that felt like a mile) to the bridal shop, for the first time it truly hit me HARD the importance of the moment. Yes, just like many other brides before me; I have a check list of to do items I know I have to accomplish before my “Big Day”, and rather effortlessly I have been checking each item off that list by the grace of God. Yet the selection…
Wedding Game Planning with the Coach
This past week “The Coach” and I had the opportunity to sit down, really talk and get down to the business of planning our wedding. Personally I enjoy watching him do what he loves, it is so natural to him to coach, lead and mentor young men, and analyze and strategize the game of football. His coaching expertise he was able to transfer to our wedding game planning. Since we reconnected now almost 3 years ago I have seen him coach on three different levels; collegiate, professional and now high school. So though we became engaged in May 2011, just before football season began, I knew that once the season had…
A new chapter of the Memoirs of a Black Girl…began 5/28/11.
5/28/11 I became engaged to the man of my tomorrow, today and yesterday. A man that is not only my Boaz, but also my Issac, Joseph, Malachi, Samuel and Paul. A man that has gone through the fire knowing the only reason why he is still standing is because of the God in Him, the Lord he serves and the calling on his life he must willingly and joyously bow down to. He is the man that gives me the desire to develop daily and truly into a Proverbs 31 Woman…
Waterfalls, Gorges and Vineyards… What a Romantic Weekend
May 3rd, 2010 – This past weekend I was whisked away to upstate New York by my beau in celebration of one of his best friends’ birthday. It would a couples’ romantic weekend touring the gorges, waterfalls and vineyards of the Finger Lakes region of our home state of New York. Two couples one truck and a true desire to learn more about the upper regions of the state that had been home for all of us for most of our lives. In this two-part piece, I plan to summarize to you my readers the highlights of my trip. Share with you and hopefully expel the myth about unfriendly New…
A movie about “Good Hair”
Tonight I went on a date with myself to see the movie “Good Hair” executive produced by Chris Rock and Nelson George (VH1 Soul Cities); with interviews with such celebrities as Nia Long, Dr. Maya Angelou, Rev. Al Sharpton, Marvett Britto and Ice T. I have to be honest I went to see the documentary with a completely opened mind. I wasn’t sure what I was going to expect. Folks, from start to finish I really did enjoy myself and did learn a bit. It was scary to see what can happen to a soda can after being left in “Creamy Crack” / Relaxer in its natural chemical form for…
Rolling and Bouncing at Dreamland Roller Rink
This past Friday night September 4th, 2009 I had the opportunity to relive a joy of my youth, roller skating. See, I recently learned that a roller skating rink had opened up in Brooklyn. Though seasonal Lola Staar’s Dreamland Roller Rink located off the boardwalk in Coney Island in my home borough of Brooklyn, NY is a fun excursion that should not be missed. Friday was the first “Saved in My City” official event night. Preparing to leave my house I packed up my Sketchers skates and my new Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 HD Camcorder (Violet) and purposed to head to Coney Island. The following video clip and photos chronicle my…
