Black Butterfly – Spread Your Wings and Fly!
“Black Butterfly” by Sounds of Blackness was the song that was in my spirit this morning. I found it a bit odd, because it is not a song that I listen to much now. However, it was one of the songs of empowerment that I [consistently] fed on as a teenager.

Phenomenal Woman – Ruthie Foster (Words by Dr. Maya Angelou)
I believe the poem "Phenomenal Woman" by Dr. Maya Angelou has to be one of my favorites of hers. As I digging through my digital record crates this morning (my iTunes library); I found this gem. I was even more happy to find a LIVE performance done of Ruthie Foster performing it on YouTube from her DVD/CD "Ruthie Foster Live at Antone's".

Call a thing…a thing. – Iyanla Vanzant
“Call a thing…a thing.” – Iyanla Vanzant I know from my own personal experience…. When I don’t call what I am feeling by its actual name, I tend to give it more power. Once something is identified, however you now have a base from which to start the journey towards obtaining wisdom to either gain understanding to resolve it or amplify it. No, longer will I allow fear to paralyze me from experiencing the freedom, that Jesus sacrifice…

For my Nieces…PSA | My Natural Hair Is Beautiful
I found this video (sponsored by Aunt Jackie's Curls & Coils) the other day as I was looking for new tutorials to maintain my own natural hair. I thought that it was a great piece and began sharing it across my social media network. It is my hope that my nieces and future daughters grow up in a world that allows them to embrace their natural beauty.

Has He Already Given You The Answer?
As I shared at the end of last year here on the blog, there were 3 books I knew I needed to read at the time [please see “My 2013 Year-end Book Reading Schedule”]. I had hoped to finish them all before this New Year; however, that didn’t happen. I was able to finish one and make some decent progress in another before the 31st...
