At the beginning of December, I made a quiet but intentional decision: I wasn’t going to wait until January to take my health seriously.
In the first two weeks of the month, I scheduled appointments that I had been putting off—my annual wellness check (which turned out to be more of a general checkup), a lady wellness visit with a new gynecologist, and my annual eye exam. These weren’t fear-driven decisions. They were acts of care, stewardship, and maturity.
I’m grateful to report that most of my test results came back good and favorable. There were a few changes I needed to make, and I’ve already started implementing them. One adjustment to my medication regimen has resulted in an eight-pound weight loss—and an unexpected side effect: I am now officially a water drinker.
Anyone who knows me knows this is new territory.
With this medication, dehydration isn’t optional. I stay thirsty enough to feel like I’ve been wandering the Sahara. But instead of complaining, I’m learning to listen. More water. More awareness. More respect for what my body needs in this season.
As I look toward 2026, I’m not chasing resolutions—I’m creating foundations.
Health-wise, I now have a clearer picture of where I am and what needs attention. Attitude-wise, I’m choosing grace, flexibility, and honesty with myself. And next on my list is a full financial review—taking a realistic look at where we are as a family and as individuals so we can make thoughtful, forward-moving decisions.
This season of my life isn’t about starting over from scratch.
It’s about starting again—with wisdom, faith, and intention.Sometimes the most powerful reset doesn’t happen in January.
Sometimes it begins quietly… in December.
