As a mom of special needs kids, my journey of finding balance in life has been a constant learning process. It’s not always easy, but with hard work and determination, I strive to give my children the attention they need to thrive while making time for myself and being a loving wife.
On weekends, it feels like all I do is laundry; sometimes, the ironing pile seems never-ending. But amidst the chaos, some moments remind me why it’s all worth it. Moments when my formerly non-verbal daughter surprises me by singing along to songs or videos, something she once only stared at. It’s incredible to witness her growth and progress.
And then there’s my 10-year-old, who used to be full of rage and mischief. Now, he is repeatedly told how sweet he is. It warms my heart to see the transformation in him.
My 7-year-old, who was once solely focused on his interests and had daily meltdowns, is now learning how to effectively communicate his needs and self-regulate. His growth and development amaze me every day.
As for me, I’ve realized the importance of taking care of my health and getting enough sleep. By doing so, I can fully enjoy the precious moments with my beautiful children and my amazing husband, who carries so much weight on his shoulders that I may not even be aware of.
Through this journey, our family has learned to trust in God. We believe He has a plan for us, and with His guidance, everything falls into place.
Life may have its challenges, but it’s the small victories and the unwavering faith that keep us going. Together, as a family, we are stronger than ever.
