From Nonverbal to Boss Baby: Celebrating Ella Grace’s Voice

From Nonverbal to Boss Baby: Celebrating Ella Grace’s Voice

She Found Her Voice—and She’s Using It

There was a time—not that long ago—when I wondered what Ella Grace’s voice would sound like.

Tonight, I don’t wonder anymore.

Let me be very clear: Ella Grace is not nonverbal.
Not even close.

Her speech has grown in range, clarity, and confidence so much that I’m convinced her new nickname needs to be Boss Baby—because this six-year-old is running things with authority and joy.

She says sausage.
She says gummy.
She says grapes.

And she doesn’t whisper.
She declares.

These aren’t requests.
They’re executive decisions.

If we’re heading out, she will confidently tell you she wants her sandals. Offer another option if you’d like—but know that she knows what she wants, and she’s not afraid to say it.

This afternoon after pickup, once she was buckled in and already had her tablet, the very first thing she said was that she wanted her blanket. Comfort matters. Voice matters. Self-advocacy matters—and she’s mastering all three.

And yes—she is absolutely the princess of our family.

No debate.
No discussion.
No vote required.

What humbles me most is remembering where we were just a year ago and standing here now—watching my daughter express herself, make choices, and speak with confidence.

This is progress.
This is growth.
This is grace in motion.

God is faithful.
Speech is unfolding.
And Ella Grace is reminding us that when a child finds their voice, the whole house learns how to listen.

Boss Baby has entered the chat—and she’s here to stay.

🙏🏾 CLOSING PRAYER

Lord, thank You for Ella Grace’s voice—every word, every sound, every confident expression.
Thank You for progress we prayed for, milestones we hoped for, and growth we once only imagined.
Continue to guide her speech, her steps, and her spirit.
May she always know she is heard, loved, protected, and powerful.
Amen.
